This series uses Dingli, a Patisco demo account. Every system screen and all the data shown here came from real operations in the system, including the exchanges between buyers and suppliers; they are not mock-ups. The people and dialogue are dramatized, and the illustrations are for illustration only. Screens are shown in the system's Chinese interface; Patisco is also available in English and other languages.
In the story: the Friday of Xiao-Yu's first week, 5:30 p.m.
One question
The drinks hadn't arrived yet. Out in the office, A-Zhe was teaching Xiao-Yu how to read [Compare changes], and Hsiu-Chin was reconciling this month's accounts.
Chairman Lin sat alone in his office, brewed a pot of tea, opened [AI assistant], and clicked [New conversation].
He thought for a moment, then typed one line:
"Which proforma invoices has Velostrada had lately? When was each one, and for how much?"

The AI read the data in Dingli's account and listed Velostrada's three PIs: PI-2503-0062, PI-2509-0187, and this quarter's PI-0411. Items, quantities and amounts for each, lined up row by row. It also noted separately that copies sent over by the other side don't count as PIs.
Chairman Lin looked at that list and remembered a lot of things.
What happened all this time
What the AI listed were documents. The events behind the documents, Chairman Lin remembered himself:
- Before the trade show, the most complete product data turned out to be on a customer's website, and A-Zhe brought all of it in at once.
- At the booth, Jonas held up the booth next door's quote and said "thirty percent cheaper." A-Zhe did not say "let me go back and check."
- Back from the show, there were only eleven business cards. But Marta from Poland scanned a QR code at her hotel and came to them on her own. Her samples are paid for, and next month she'll place her first formal order.
- Jonas quietly changed 0.3, and the system flagged it. And everyone finally noticed A-Mei was pregnant.
- In a meeting room in Hamburg, Jonas said what he really thought.
- Yongchang raised prices, Hongtai changed plating, and every term hashed out was written on the document.
- The inspection, shipping straight from Wuri, the all-caps follow-up email. The answer was already in one place.
- A-Mei's maternity leave, with the handover done in one afternoon. Xiao-Yu's first week, with a whole deal read from start to finish.
Before vs. now
When Chairman Lin first took over, a deal's "memory" lived in each person: products on A-Zhe's computer, prices in Excel, delivery dates in A-Mei's LINE, accounts in Hsiu-Chin's drawer.
Now most of this is at the company. Not because everyone got more diligent, but because the moment an exchange happens, it's already data. No typing it in later, no tidying it up afterward.
But Chairman Lin also knows some things aren't in the system. What tea Ms. Chang likes. What Jonas means when he says "Not more." Why Marta scanned that QR code at her hotel. Those belong to people.
Chairman Lin's last words
The drinks arrived. Chairman Lin walked out of his office, and everyone was already passing them around.
Xiao-Yu asked, "Chairman, what were you asking the AI just now?"
Chairman Lin thought for a moment. "I asked it what we've done these two months."
"What did it say?"
"It gave me a pile of documents." Chairman Lin took a sip of warm oolong. "But trade has never been just about making the margin. Every day something changes: a customer revises an order, a supplier raises prices, a carton goes missing on the road, someone goes on maternity leave. What we do is still hold it together when things change."
A-Zhe's phone chimed. A-Mei had posted a photo in the staff group: a tiny baby with a furrowed brow, a few days ahead of the due date.
Hsiu-Chin said, "With a frown like that, this one's going to be great at reconciling accounts."
A word for the boss: Patisco won't do business for you. What it does is make sure that when things change, the data is already there, so people can focus on deciding.
That's where Moments in Trade comes to a close.
