Data that will be requested: ・CE declaration of conformity and technical documentation for batteries ・From 2027-02-18: Battery Passport (QR code linking to the battery's dataset) ・Carbon footprint declaration, recycled content (phased in by battery category)
What to do now: 1. Confirm which category your battery belongs to (portable, LMT, industrial, electric vehicle, SLI)—the category determines which provisions and dates apply. 2. Request data from battery cell suppliers: chemical composition, capacity, manufacturer and date, carbon footprint. Most passport data must come from upstream. 3. Plan where the QR code will be printed and who maintains the backend data—the passport must remain queryable throughout the battery's entire lifecycle. 4. Simultaneously address shipping: lithium batteries are Class 9 dangerous goods; see the hazardous goods declaration section.
