Our company wants to adopt digital tools, but we're worried the vendor won't understand our industry. How should we choose a service provider?

When selecting a service provider, industry understanding often matters more than technical specifications. Start by preparing a few real business scenarios your company faces daily—for example, customer order changes, partial shipments, or multi-currency quotations—and ask the vendor directly: "How do you handle this situation?" Vendors who provide concrete operational explanations likely have practical experience in your industry; those who only discuss technical architecture or demonstrate generic features often create gaps in collaboration later. You can also request case studies from clients in your industry or similar company sizes, or arrange calls with actual users. This is more reliable than any marketing material. Once you've chosen a vendor, clearly document your requirements and acceptance criteria during the onboarding phase. Aligning expectations upfront prevents major knowledge gaps later.
