Documents you will be asked for: ・Reference number of the Due Diligence Statement (DDS)—this number must be passed down the supply chain ・Geographic coordinates of raw material origin (rubber plantations, forest plots) ・Documentation proving no deforestation after 31 December 2020
What you should do now: 1. Confirm your tariff codes and pay attention to items marked "ex" in the annex: only the part "containing regulated raw materials" applies (e.g. 4011 must contain natural rubber). 2. Ask your raw material suppliers: which country and which plot does natural rubber, timber, or pulp come from? Can you obtain the plot's geographic coordinates? This step takes the most time—ask as early as possible. 3. Confirm whether your EU buyer is a large/medium or micro/small enterprise—their compliance date determines when you must provide documentation. 4. Your own shipment packaging (cardboard boxes, wooden pallets) does not count: the regulation explicitly excludes "packaging material used purely to support, protect or carry another product".
