Traditional manufacturing processes have been running for decades. Do they need major overhaul to benefit from digitalization?

Not necessarily. Large-scale process renovation carries high risk and encounters much resistance. For SMEs preparing for succession or with limited resources, it's especially unsuitable. A more practical approach is to identify the few steps in your existing process that consume the most labor and are most prone to error, then prioritize using tools to handle those areas. Keep other parts of the process as they are. For example, if your external quotations and orders still rely on Email and Excel, you can first centralize the data management and maintain version records. This alone reduces many communication errors and time spent searching for files—no need to simultaneously overhaul storage, production, or finance. Digitalization is a continuous adjustment process, not a one-time project. Starting with areas where you can see results more easily actually makes it simpler to convince the organization to accept change.
